On Friday, June 7, 2013, the journey of the level of time ended for our Beloved Brother Donald Shipley, when he was summoned to appear by the Grand Warden of Heaven. There, divested of the rags of righteousness and clothed in a garment from on high, he was conducted to the right hand of the Supreme Grand Master. He departed this life for that house not made with hands eternal in the heavens at the age of 79 years, 8 months and 12 days.
Brother Shipley was born on February 19, 1934 in Champaign County, Illinois. He petitioned Western Star Lodge # 240, Ancient Free and Accepted Masons, Champaign, Illinois, for the degrees in Masonry and, after being properly elected, was initiated an Entered Apprentice Mason on July 24,1996.
Showing suitable proficiency, he continued his Masonic journey by being passed to the degree of Fellowcraft on September 21, 1996. He received the working tools of a Master Mason on September 21, 1996, when he was raised to that Sublime Degree.
Don was a Life Member of Western Star lodge #240.
He was also a member of Ansar Shrine, Springfield, Illinois. The Illini Shrine Club and Illini HI-Lo Wheelers, Champaign, Illinois
Services will be 2PM Thursday, June 13, 2013, at Renner-Wikoff Chapel, Urbana, Illinois. Masonic Services will be performed by Western Star Lodge #240.
Thus endeth the record of a just and upright man and Mason. Western Star Lodge, as well as all who were privileged to know Our Brother Don, will miss him.
